PaiMei

Getting PaiMei installed requires some dedication and attention to detail but if you follow these steps on a CLEAN Windows XP SP2 VM you shouldnt have any issues. This guide is for the current svn snap shot at : Google Code.

There are a lot of prerequisites for the framework to install and function correctly. The installer scripts no longer function as intended and the prerequisites listed in the official install instructions are wrong in many places.

Start by grabbing the latest source from svn using:

svn checkout http://paimei.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ paimei-read-only

This should create your a PaiMei directory but we have quite a bit of work to do before it will function. Go grab Python 2.5.4 For x86 processors: python-2.5.4.msi

Now go grab mysql 5.0.90*** I’ve had better luck with the mysql 5.0 branch (the python mysql wrapper we will download later needs to be customized to look for the registry key that 5.1 makes instead of the key 5.0 does.  It’s a simple procedure but we’re going to skip it to keep the tutorial simple.)
